On Wednesday 25th October Chalfont Leisure Centre hosted an open afternoon for care home residents, families and carers.

16 care home residents attended the open afternoon with their carers. Activities included Table Tennis, New Age Curling and Boccia which were all adapted to individuals ability.

Two residents tried some of the adaptable gym equipment helped by Justin Banville – Healthwise Coordinator – who also talked about falls prevention with residents and carers. Elizabeth Hawkes - Bucks County Council officers from the Quality in Care Team attended along with Eve Chason from Chiltern District Council who talked to the carers about the support available from the Community Safety Team.

Aims of the Event
• Engage with residents from local care homes
• Raise awareness of the range of activities  available at Chalfont Leisure Centre
• To discover what activities the care home residents wanted to take part in and what specialist equipment would be required
• To encourage more frail older people to become more active
