From March 24th Dormers Wells Leisure Centre is introducing a range of new exercise classes throughout the week to encourage first time users to try a new class as part of its ‘Try It Do It’ scheme.

For eight weeks Southall residents will have access to discounted prices and participate in activities including women only group exercise classes and men only swimming sessions.

A variety of classes will be introduced by the leisure centre, which is run by charitable social enterprise GLL, which operates Greenwich leisure centres under its Better brand. The Try It Do It scheme aims to tackle issues such as body confidence and diverse cultural needs by encouraging people who haven’t participated in any physical activity to try something new.

Adding to its existing women’s only swimming sessions at Dormers Wells Leisure Centre; women will be able to book a block of eight weeks of swimming lessons on Tuesdays between midday and 1.00pm, for just £24.00. There is also a Latino Aerobics class on Fridays at 6.30pm and Yoga on a Sunday at 10.00am for £1.50.

For gents, the team at Dormers Wells will be opening up the pool for extended hours; offering a ‘men only’ general swimming session on Saturday afternoons, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

There are also mixed adult swimming lessons every Thursday from 11.30am – 1.00pm.

All the swimming sessions will be free to members and just £2 for non-members.

Maximilian Goodchild, Community Sports Manager at Dormer Wells Leisure Centre, comments, ‘This is the third time we’ve run this scheme and its back by popular demand. Inactivity can lead to poor health, obesity, and diabetes, so taking part in sport and physical activity is so important. We want to do all we can to make sure that we are providing an atmosphere that enables everyone to exercise.”
