Better, the official health and fitness partner for Sport Relief 2016 has announced it has raised an incredible £325,617 so far for Sport Relief, which will help transform lives in the UK and across some of the world’s poorest communities. With money continuing to be collected, the final figure is expected to rise.
Better Centre’s in Hammersmith and Fulham have spent the past three months bringing staff, members and the local community together in order to raise money for Sport Relief. A staggering £5,717.00 has been raised so far with dozens of sporting fundraisers helping to contribute towards the donations collected.
Better Centre’s fundraising highlights included a Hammersmith and Fulham borough triathlon, starting with a 5k run at Lillie Road, a 10k cycle at Hammersmith and finishing with a gruelling 400m swim at Phoenix. Better staff and members also contributed towards swimming 31 Miles across 31 Better pools in the UK. National group exercise classes were also attended by over 2,000 people across multiple Better centres in the UK.
A plethora of local fundraising activities and challenges from bake sales and family fun days to 12hr cycle-athons and swimming competitions also contributed towards the fundraising.
Hundreds of Better staff and members in Hammersmith and Fulham have pushed themselves to fundraising glory - culminating in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games which was held on the 18th-20th March.
Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool, Lillie Road Fitness Centre and Hammersmith Fitness and Squash Centre have opened their doors to challenge, coach and cheer people of all fitness abilities to get active, raise cash and change lives.
Ordinary people rose to the challenge of being ‘extraordinary’ – walking, running, swimming and cycling thousands of miles in total.
