Better’s Botwell Green Sport & Leisure Centre in partnership with Disability Sports Coach and British Gymnastics are holding a disability Gymnastics Open Day on the 18th February, from 4 – 7pm.

On the day participants of all ages, children and adults will be in invited to take part in the following tasters:

  • 4 – 4:30pm Acro Gymnastics
  • 4 – 4:30pm Disability Sports Coach Multi Sports Taster
  • 4:30 – 5pm Artistic Gymnastics
  • 5 – 5:30pm Rhythmic Gymnastics
  • 5:30 – 6pm Acro Gymnastics
  • 5:30 – 6pm Disability Sports Coach Multi Sports Taster
  • 6 – 6:30pm Artistic Gymnastics
  • 6:30 – 7pm Rhythmic Gymnastics

Acrobatic gymnastics is all about working as a team to pull off the most spectacular balances and throws. In no time you’ll be climbing on to your partners’ shoulders, leaping off and flying through the air, spinning and twisting.

Artistic Gymnastics is based around four different activities, the vault, uneven bars, the beam and floor routine. One moment you could be upside down spinning around a bar metres off the ground, the next your somersaulting along a beam no wider that the length of your hand.

Rhythmic gymnastics is all about spellbinding routines performed on the floor. There are no vaults or bars to leap off; it's just you, the music, and one piece of apparatus that brings your performance to life!

Gymnastics is an inclusive sport, meaning the coaches adapt every activity around the physical, sensory and learning requirements of the individual.

Better, the UK’s largest charitable social enterprise will provide all the equipment all you need to bring is comfortable clothes, any medication and a bottle of water.

To get involved either turn up on the day or email Head Coach Karen Rose on karen.rose@gll.org.
