The Girls 2016 Primary Schools Cup was held at Market Road over three days. Qualifying tournaments were played over 11th and 12th October, with Finals day held on 19th October

Organised by the Islington Football Development Partnership (Islington Council, GLL and Arsenal in The Community) with the Islington School Sports Team, 14 primary schools started (Canonbury, St John's HV, Sacred Heart, Vittoria, Hungerford, St Joan of Arc, St Mark's, St Mary's CE, Hargrave Park, Laycock, Thornhill, Newington Green, Gillespie and Prior Weston). The best teams from days 1 and 2, played in 2 groups with Yerbury, Tufnell Park, Laycock and St Joseph’s advancing to the semi finals.

Both Semi finals went to extra time and penalties, with Yerbury and Laycock securing spots in the final.

Player of the tournament, Mabel Hayes shot and the save dropped to a teammate who finished emphatically to win the final 1-0 for Yerbury
