Market Road ATP plays host to Arsenal In The Community's annual Premier League schools tournaments.

32 teams arrived at Market Road ATP for the under 11s schools tournament comprising of a mix of male and female participants. Over 350 people were involved with playing, refereeing and spectating.

Academy players Alex Crean and Charlie Gilmour were on hand to cheer on youngsters taking part in the Premier League Schools Tournament at Market Road on Tuesday 21st February. Ashmont Primary School took the winners honours and will now represent Arsenal in the national finals of the competition at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge home in May. 

Arsenal in the Community coach James Warnock said: "It's been brilliant to get some 250 youngsters from the local area together for a day of fun and football. The chance to win a place in the finals at May was obviously a big draw for all of our kids. The chance to meet Alex and Charlie from our Academy made for an even better day."

Last year’s champions St Albans Girls’ school defended their title with a close fought 1-0 win over Stoke Newington school. They will represent Arsenal in the national finals of the tournament at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge in May.

New Arsenal Ladies signing Beth Mead was at Market Road in Islington on Tuesday to cheer on girls taking part in our Premier League schools tournament.

Beth, who recently joined the Gunners from Sunderland, was on hand to congratulate the teams and hand out medals after the final. "It’s fantastic to see so many girls out playing football and showing what they can do," Beth said. "I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Arsenal have always been known as a club that backs women’s football in a big way, and it’s good to see that commitment extends to Arsenal in the Community and the work we do in the local area."

Arsenal in the Community works with 75 primary schools in north London, delivering a range of education and sports activities.

Arsenal in the Community work with Arsenal Ladies to deliver girl’s football sessions every week in Islington, Camden, Hackney and Hertsmere.
