Better leisure centres took part in a mini Club Games event at Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre, which was organised between the two neighbouring boroughs, Lambeth and Merton to help promote active lifestyles for over 55's.

The two day event saw over 55's from the local area take part in a range of activities including a timed cycle, timed swim and dominoes. Team Lambeth cruised to victory in the first leg, with Merton unfortunately struggling to field a full team.

All was not lost though, with the second leg the following week hosted by Canons Leisure Centre. The visiting Lambeth Team were set to compete in badminton, short tennis, table tennis and darts.

The friendly competition was apparent between the two boroughs, with Merton determined to make up for the misfortune they suffered during the first leg.

The first event, darts, saw Lambeth take the victory winning 3 matches to Merton's 1 from a best of 5 rounds.

Next came badminton, again Lambeth showed their dominance with both their teams winning 2 straight games each out of 3.

All credit to Merton who showed great determination throughout and fought back bravely in the Short Tennis event which concluded in a draw.

Overall winners were Lambeth and definitely big contenders for the Annual Club Games this year.

Team Lambeth are also on the lookout for representatives to take part at the annual Better Games. The event is a self-styled older persons Olympic Games and attracts teams from boroughs across the capital so note your interest if you are keen to enter.
