We will soon be carrying out refurbishment works in the studio pool at Better, East End Pool.

The project, funded by Newcastle City Council is the one of several developments planned to take place at East End Pool during 2018, as part of the council’s leisure management contract with GLL, the UK’s largest social enterprise. The contract includes the City Council providing a subsidy over the first five-years that can be spent on improvements and maintenance - resulting in the buildings remaining open and providing a leisure service to the public.

REFURBISHMENT PHASE ONE: COMPLETION

We are excited to announce that the fitness changing rooms have been refurbished and new Technogym group cycles have been installed.  The group cycling programme is available to view on our timetable.

STUDIO POOL: TEMPORARY CLOSURE

On Monday 26th March 2018 the studio pool will temporarily close to the public for an estimated eight weeks.  This is to allow important refurbishment work to take place on the moveable floor in the pool.  A displacement programme has been put in place to move sessions to the main pool and limit any disruption as much as possible.  The key changes are as follows:

  • Better Swim School: Lessons will take place in the main pool and follow the existing swimming lesson timetable
  • Public Swimming, Lane Swimming and Water Workout Classes: Limited sessions will run during busy periods and while swimming lessons are taking place.  Before you arrive, check out timetable for the up-to-date swimming programme
  • Swim for Women: The Wednesday 7pm to 8pm session will be relocated to the main pool, however will not be completely segregated.  We have been unable to relocate the Friday evening session due to an adult only session taking place from 7.30pm to 9pm
  • Swim for Adults Wednesday Evening: This session will start one hour later at 8pm to allow for the Swim for Women session to take place in the pool beforehand

Thanks you for your patience.  Please remember to check our timetable before your visit or speak to a member of staff for more information.
