Runners will once again be taking to the streets of Carlisle and surrounding areas as The Great Cumbrian Run returns for its 35th anniversary this autumn.
The 13.1 mile half marathon will take place at 10am on Sunday 1st October 2017 starting from the magnificent Carlisle Castle, crossing Castle Way and through Carlisle city centre before heading out into the countryside and the picturesque villages of Cumwhinton, Wetheral and Scotby. On return into the city, runners will come through Bitts Park ready for the grand finish on the track in The Sheepmount Athletics Stadium.
The Family Fun Run will also be back, starting at 9am at The Sheepmount. This 1.5 mile route around the Sheepmount and Bitts Park is a fantastic event for all the family and school groups to come along and raise money or as a warmup for Cumbrian Run competitors.
The Great Cumbrian Run and Family Fun Run are organised by GLL, the UK’s largest leisure social enterprise, under their Better brand. Runner’s sponsorship from this year’s event will go to CFM’s Cash For Kids, Eden Valley Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
