Rugby Girls Can Swim

Leisure operator Better, in partnership with the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign, has launched a series of dedicated women-only swim sessions at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby.

‘This Girl Can’ is a national campaign developed by Sport England and a wide range of partner organisations. It’s a celebration of active women up and down the country who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre has introduced two dedicated female only swim sessions each week, every Monday morning 9.00am until 10.00am and every Wednesday morning 9.30am until 10.30am. The sessions are ideal for all types of female swimmer, those swimming for fitness, competition or those just wanting to destress and relax.

The sessions aim to be fun and inclusive and to encourage those who may not have swum or exercised recently to get into the water. Staff will be on hand to offer tours of the facilities to anyone who is visiting the leisure centre for the first time, while knowledgeable swimming helpers will be ready to offer help and advice.

Harvey Morgan, Community Sports Manager at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre said: “Better is part of a charitable social enterprise and our ethos is all about inclusivity and ensuring that sports and leisure facilities are available to all. That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with the “This Girl Can” campaign and hope that we will be able to encourage more local women to experience the physical and mental benefits that swimming can offer.”
