Whether you are looking to play casually or competitively we cater for all your tennis needs. We are a nationally recognised performance centre offering a wide range of options. We have 6 indoor, 4 grass & 6 green clay courts. As one of the biggest tennis centres within the area of Abingdon, we aim to provide the perfect sessions for all levels of ability. Tennis is a fantastic way to change up your usual gym workout, being a great sport for overall fitness. And most of all...it's FUN!

Our pay and play sessions run on a Saturday morning from 9am-12pm costing between £5-£6 per session

The sessions are busy and lots of fun with the children able to practice different shots, as well as ball and racket skills at different stations which are rotated every few minutes. Each session ends with a game which encourages team spirit and ensures everyone leaves wanting more! We also offer a pay and play match play session which is aimed at Year 7+ to improve their technical and tactical skills by playing matches.

Toddlers

Turn up and play sessions aimed at 2-4 years costing £3.30 per session. They are a fun sessions requiring parental participation with warm up games, fun activities and some ball and racket skills and races and games

We also offer a more structured session during the week which is aimed at 3-4 year olds (without parental participation) here children do activities and games to help develop balance and hand-eye co-ordination as well as more structured tennis coaching. The sessions are £5 each and are paid for in 9 week blocks.

Lessons

These sessions are aimed at children playing once a week with a ratio of 1 coach to 6 players. This allows players more coaching time to focus on practising their skills than in a pay and play session. They are bookable in 14 week credits and are part of our rolling 48 week programme, which means they run all through the year apart from 2 weeks in the summer and 2 weeks at Christmas.

Squads

Squad lessons are aimed at children playing more than once a week and competing in tournaments. Players can only be invited to these sessions by our coaches usually from our lessons or our schools tennis outreach programme and the coach to player ratio is 1:5. This allows players greater opportunity to work on their tactical and technical skills as well as their match play.

Adult sessions

We offer a range of adult sessions here at White Horse for beginners, improvers and advanced players, these pay and play lessons are available twice a week and no commitment is required as you can just turn up on the day. These lively social sessions have a high level of good quality coaching designed to improve all abilities, they are from £7.75 per session and include a free cup of coffee! We also offer adult match play sessions once a week these coached sessions are designed to not only improve technical ability but also tactical skills in match play situations and are great value at £6.00 for two hours.

Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis is a fun, sociable, group fitness class open to people of all ages and abilities. Supported by music it is a great cardio workout and your trained coach will lead you through a 60 minute session. This will help not only help improve your fitness levels, tone and shape muscle groups, burn calories but also improve your tennis skills and you get to meet new people in a fun and friendly environment We offer 3 sessions a week and they are £7.75 per session.

Nifty Fifties

This session consists of an hour of technical coaching and match play for those over fifty still enjoying the sport. This is a busy social session and is a great way to make new friends as well as learning new skills. This is £7.95 per session.

Outreach Programme

We are very keen to encourage as many children as possible to play tennis. Through our outreach programme our coach’s visit as many of our local schools as possible offering free taster sessions and inviting children to our pay and play sessions with the possibility of them joining the programme. So far this year our coaches have seen nearly 800 children in 19 schools.

Disability Tennis

At the moment we offer one session a week for children aged 4-8 years with learning disabilities. This is a funded free session and it has been extremely rewarding seeing the children learning new skills and having a lot of fun.

Visually Impaired Tennis
Last Thursday of each month 11.00-12.00

Down Syndrome Tennis
Satursdays 11.00-12.00

White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in partnership with DS Active welcomes Down's Syndrome tennis to the Abingdon Centre.

The session starts on Saturday 16th September from 11am - 12pm and is open to children aged 5 to adult. The session will be split into juniors and adults.

Push2Podium- Wheelchair Tennis

Have you been inspired by the incredible success of British wheelchair tennis players recently? White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre will be hosting free wheelchair tennis as part of the Push2Podium festival which are taking place across the country. All equipment will be provided and a Talent ID coach will be at each festival.
