The ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championship finals (U17 and U19) are coming to Manchester Aquatics Centre for a weekend of exciting water polo action.

The Championship finals take place from the 22-23 April and are the pinnacle of the age group water polo calendar. It will see some of the country’s best teams battling it out for national honours.

Water polo is a fast-paced game which showcases skill, stamina, and sometimes brutal efficiency. The game consists of four quarters in which two teams must fight to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposition team’s goal. The team with the most goals at full time, wins.

This might sound simple, but when you have to keep yourself afloat without touching the bottom of the pool, and throw a ball around for at least 20 minutes…while being attacked from all sides by the opposition – it can get a little dicey.

Whether you are a keen water polo enthusiast, or a complete newbie to the sport, the ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championships is an event not to be missed.
