Better, Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin have hosted yet another successful event for the Great British Tennis Weekend 2017.

They offered free tennis to over 60 budding wannabe tennis players of all ages and abilities giving them opportunity to try mini tennis, experience the exciting touchtennis or the more traditional game of social doubles.

The outdoor tennis courts were transformed into mini tennis courts for children and parents to rally and play. Balloons, bunting and music added to the festival atmosphere. Children used the newly acquired skilled to win prizes by hitting balls into targets.

Touchtennis proved successful with the adults and older juniors who got set for battle on reduced sized courts, foam ball and 21 inch rackets. This exciting new version of the real game is fast and skilful, and great fun.

Steve Holmes – Tennis Development Manager for Better, Dragon Leisure Centre said:

“Once again we are delighted to be part of the LTA national campaign Great British Tennis Weekend, and offer tennis taster sessions to the local community. It was a terrific event with friendly atmosphere and good to see everyone joining in, smiling and playing some great tennis.

Thank you to everyone that attended and to the volunteers.”

GBTW is a nationwide ‘open days’ campaign with the aim of driving more people to play tennis by offering free opportunities to play.
