Better Sutton Sports Village is currently undergoing improvement works, with a £350,000 programme to redevelop its gym and studio spaces, as well as refurbishment of other customer areas.
The two-storey gym is being expanded, with the lower floor remodelled into a larger, open plan space for strength and functional workouts. On the upper floor, a studio has been converted to extend the existing cardiovascular area. Additional equipment has been installed in each of these areas, while the removed studio will also be relocated.
Further work includes improvements to other areas, including the installation of new flooring in both male and female changing rooms, as well as refurbishment of customer toilets.
The well-established community sports and activity centre was acquired in October 2016 by GLL – the UK’s largest leisure charitable social enterprise, the facility now operates under its customer brand, Better.
Simon Sen, Regional Director at GLL said: “Since the acquisition of the centre last year, we have committed to maximising the potential of a facility that has been a key part of the community for many years. This improvement programme allows us to better utilise the available space by reconfiguring areas of the building to accommodate even more market-leading equipment, allowing more people to be more active more often.
“The gym at Sutton Sports Village remains open and the team have strived to keep disruption to a minimum during this time. We thank our members for their patience during these works and look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to our new and improved centre.”
Works are scheduled for completion in late July 2017. For further updates, visit www.better.org.uk/suttonrefurb
