On Saturday 17th September our Islington lifeguards took part in a lifesaving competition against other lifeguards in our company at the Eltham Centre. This takes place every year in memory of one our colleges who tragically died outside the Eltham Centre on his way home. He was a lifeguard; we named the competition after him “The Terry Gregory Award”

The team worked extremely hard in the lead up to the event by completing extra training in outside of their work hours as well as the usual monthly training we organise.

The Team took part in 3 different sections, multiple choice questions paper, poolside scenarios and dry side scenarios where they faced scenes they would come across in the leisure industry.

On the day 6 other teams took part, they all performed amazingly but of course team Islington came first and won the event.

The team then went onto the second round at the Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday 3rd October where we place 5th in the whole company.
