On Saturday 17th September our Islington lifeguards took part in a lifesaving competition against other lifeguards in our company at the Eltham Centre. The competition takes place every year in memory of one of our lifeguards who tragically died outside the Eltham Centre on his way home - we named the competition after him “The Terry Gregory Award”

The team worked extremely hard in the lead up to the event by completing extra training in their own time as well as their normal monthly training we organise.

The team took part in 3 different sections: multiple choice questions paper, poolside scenarios and dry side scenarios - where they faced scenes they would come across in the leisure industry.

On day 6 other teams took part, they all performed amazingly but team Islington came first and won the event.

The team now go onto the second round at the Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday 3rd October.

Fingers crossed for TEAM ISLINGTON.
