For those of you that don't know, Sam has been training consistently over the past couple of years in preparation for competing in a full Ironman. During this time he has competed in half Ironmans and various other triathlons. Sam chose to do an Ironman in Zurich.

 

An Ironman is a long distance triathlon event. It consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a full marathon run  (26.22 miles). All of this with no break. It is widely considered as one of the most difficult one-day sporting events. To be considered an Ironman you must complete the event in 17 hours. Sam did it in just 10 hours 39! Here are his times:

Sam always trains hard and was back training just a few days after the event. His next major event will be a 3000 row across the Atlantic Ocean with 3 other people.
