6th-12th August we hosted our annual grade 3 summer tournament. We had a total of 331 entries throughout the week. This included ages groups from 8U’s to over 18’s players which came from all over the country to compete from as far away as Derbyshire, Cambridge and Portsmouth to more locally based players.

The standard of the tennis throughout the week was excellent and it was noticeable that there were many more really close matches than in previous years.

The weather was not particularly good so the tournament was held indoors however this meant the atmosphere was great throughout the whole week with many parents and supporters cheering on the players from the tennis balcony. It created a great buzz in the centre as many passers by came to watch, many of

A massive thank you must go to Alison jackson the tournament referee who organised the event and made sure it all ran smoothly. Thanks must also go to Craig Amison-Smith who was Alison’s right hand man and the numerous coaches and volunteers who helped court supervising and scoring without them the tournament wouldn’t have been such a success.
