About the Fund

The Gateshead Community Fund is a local funding programme that supports the development of new opportunities for physical health and wellbeing across the Gateshead community. Clubs, individuals, charities, schools, and organisations can apply for funding to deliver projects and initiatives that increase participation in sport and physical activity, and promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

Who can apply?

The fund is open to not-for-profit organisations and statutory bodies, including:

  • Sports clubs
  • Community and youth groups
  • Educational establishments
  • Individuals setting up a new community activity

Projects must benefit Gateshead residents and support increased participation in physical or mental wellbeing activities

What we fund

We support new activities, initiatives and start-up projects, including:

  • One-off events or pilot programmes
  • Equipment and kit for new groups or teams
  • Project and start-up costs that help people get active
  • Facilities improvements or refurbishment (permissions required)

Projects should be deliverable within 12 months.

A total of £25,000 is available, supporting up to 14 projects.
