Walking Netball

EN_WN_LogoBall_AW.jpg

Walking netball is back at Culverhay Leisure Centre from April 23rd 2022!

The sessions take place term time on Saturdays in the sports hall, 10.00-11.00am and costs £5.00 per session, with booking in advance required.

The rules are essentially the same as the traditional game, but by reducing the speed and taking out jumping, the game becomes much more accessible to those who are less active, injured or have previously been unable to take part due to ongoing illness. With less impact/stress on the joints, Walking Netball leaves plenty more time for lots of laughter and fun.

Since its launch in January 2016, England Netball have been running a number of sessions across the country which have engaged hundreds of women - many of whom haven’t played netball in over 40 years and who’s ages generally range from 30 – 80 years+. The game is proving a real ‘life changer’ and participants are not only seeing an improvement in their general fitness (including lower heart rates and blood pressure), but many have seen improvements with specific physical ailments and mental health too.

Sessions are led by a fully trained and friendly Walking Netball host who will welcome you to the session and then take you through a gentle warm up and some basic skills. Every session involves an opportunity to play a full game of Walking Netball, relearn the rules and the positions and ultimately have fun being active!

For more information and to book your place please contact Kerry Brooks at Kerry.Brooks@englandnetball.co.uk or 07540126813.
