On Sunday 6 March 22, an adventurous group of customers from Eastern Leisure Centre and the centres General Manager Nikki Lewis are coming together to support our amazing member Daniela during Eating Disorder Awareness Week .

During the peak of the Covid 19 pandemic with the disruption and restrictions to every day living, Daniela was facing additional struggle with an eating disorder.

Daniela seeking help to get through this difficult period reached out to BEAT an Eating Disorder Charity. BEAT provides support to people who have eating disorders and to family and friend of people with eating disorders.

Daniela made a full recovery from her eating disorder with help from family and friends and tremendous support from BEAT’s online support group and help lines.

Daniela had the support and regular communication from Eastern Leisure Centre's General Manager and Personal Trainer Nikki Lewis who provided advice, reassurance and a caring ear to Daniela during the hard times. As leisure provisions reopened Nikki and the staff at Eastern Leisure Centre played an integral role in Daniela’s positive return back to fitness classes.

Daniela, Nikki and a group of other Better members, family and friends are coming together on Sunday the 6th March to raise money for BEAT eating disorder charity by climbing the 4mile 886m accent up South Wales’ highest peak, Pen y Fan.

Daniela has set up a go fund me page to help raise a target of £600. If you would like to help raise awareness of eating disorders and support the charity, you can donate here
