This week saw Vaughan Gethin Minister for Health & Social Services visit Eastern Leisure centre to get involved in the All Star Cricket programme.

All Stars Cricket has been a tremendous success all over Wales, with more than 4000 children involved but not everywhere has access to a local cricket club.

Sport Cardiff and Cricket Wales have recognised this issue and partnered-up with and Sport Wales and GLL to run a project at Eastern Leisure Centre which brings All Stars to a community of Cardiff that is not traditionally a cricketing area to give children the opportunity to try and play cricket.

The All Stars Cricket programme has been running for the last 8 weeks with 25 children turning up each week in their All Stars cricket kit to enjoy a fun session delivered by Sport Cardiff coaches.

Vaughan Gethin attending in a private capacity and very much as a ‘cricket man’ - having played and followed the game for many years. Vaughan got very much into the spirit of things, by joining in with the bowling and batting. He would go on to emphasise the importance of opportunities such as these in our cities and communities, fully appreciating the particular charms of the game and the wider benefits to children of social, sporty activity.
