Llanishen Leisure Centre swim a mile in aid of Sepsis UK.

Llanishen Leisure Centre is proud to announce that on Saturday 6th July 2019, it hosted a '1 Mile Swim' In aid of Sepsis.

Sadly in 2017, Rachel Day, a Swimming Teacher and Recreation Assistant at Llanishen Leisure Centre passed away after contracting Sepsis. Since then, her friends, family and all the staff at Llanishen Leisure Centre have been raising awareness and funds for the Sepsis Charity.

The '1 Mile Swim' was another great event, arranged by Steve Moates, Llanishen's Swimming Co-Ordinator. 52 children took part, along with Rachel's family, friends and staff from Better. In total they swam 64 miles between them; the equivalent of Cardiff to Worcester, and raised over £450.

On the same day, Llanishen Leisure Centre was pleased to open a Memorial Garden in Memory of Rachel. Family, friends and staff planted flowers that will be a wonderful reminder of Rachel Day and her time at Llanishen Leisure Centre.
