Join us at Liskeard Leisure Centre to take part in low impact and sociable activities, supported through funding from Active Cornwall and the Contain Outbreak Management Fund.

This new activity club is aimed at adults over 55 who have previously been inactive, new to the Leisure Centre, or have health conditions and would benefit from an engagement in activity.

It will allow new and existing members to engage with us in some fun and informal activities that include badminton, table tennis, aerobics, and swimming.

Afterwards sit, relax and enjoy a tea and coffee.

We are closely working with some of our Local Community Clubs, Liskeard Bowls and Liskeard Badminton Clubs to support the delivery of activities, showing our community residents that we want our centre to be a hub where people can improve their physical and mental health wellbeing. Our first session on 11th January went very well Marcia Henning our local instructor hosted and welcomed our participants.

We were able to offer indoor bowls, badminton, a class and swimming through out the morning, participants were able to have a go and try each activity. These activities offered in a low level intensity were confidently tried. We had some great feedback with one participant commenting.. “His best Tuesday morning in a very long time’, that he ‘I was very sceptical and wasn’t going to come, now though I am really, really glad I did as I have had a brilliant morning”..

We want to build our numbers and provide an opportunity weekly to engage in low level activity, building confidence, improving physical wellbeing, and all in an environment that is open, welcoming and enjoyable.

Our sessions will run every Tuesday from 11th January 09:30 to 12:00 and are free of charge for the first 4 weeks.  We would love to welcome you to our Centre!
