Epsom and Ewell came away with with first place in both the boys and girls u13s Judo at the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games event after winning 6 golds, 3 silvers and 5 bronzes across both groups.

Reigate and Banstead also had a lot of success coming second in the u13 girls, and winning 1 gold 2 silver and 6 bronzes across both groups.

Several individuals also won awards, including best male judoka of the morning(E&E), best female judoka of the morning (R&B) and best sportsmanship of the morning(E&E). Coach Rachelle said of the successes, "I am so proud of the entire team from youth helpers and training partners to the competitors."

Epsom and Ewell came second overall across all sports competed in the event with 6 golds (2 of which were judo) with Reigate and Banstead coming fourth.

"I am very proud to have coached these fantastic teams on the day. Both teams were comprised of individuals with less than 8 weeks experience and all held their own demonstrating brilliant judo. When I took over managing the Epsom and Ewell team 5 years ago and set up my own branch of the club at the Rainbow Leisure Centre, I would never have expected to win the whole event. Here's to more success in the future!" said Team Manager Matty who was very thankful and inspired by not only the competitors but two other students from the club who volunteered their time to support in coaching sessions and on the day.

We hope this win gives them a desire to continue their Judo training at the Rainbow Leisure Centre!
