Last Thursday 9 July, the Government announced the return of outdoor swimming in England from 11 July after an enforced lockdown lasting nearly 4 months.

Only a handful of locations were able to offer swimming due to the very short notice – one of them was Better’s Charlton Lido in Greenwich.

Charlton Lido had taken the initiative to anticipate the reopening announcement by starting preparations early – turning on the water heaters, getting the water cleaned and tested and implementing a Covid Secure plan for the listed lido and gym.

This weekend 1,000 visitors enjoyed getting back into Charlton's water.

The swimming venue is now fully open to the public from 6.30am to 8.30pm on weekdays and 9am - 5pm over the weekend.

Covid Safe signage, staff training and a one-way operation give customers complete confidence for their safety, while pre-booking, restricted capacities and double lane widths make for an enhanced swimming experience and the end to ‘lane rage’.

All indoor leisure facilities in England are able to reopen from 25 July.  In Belfast, they are already open and a decision is expected in Wales soon.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
