The South East Cancer Help Centre transformed the streets of Purley throughout October for their Paint Purley Purple campaign covering the trees and benches in purple. Many local businesses got involved to raise as much money as they can for the charity which aims to give any person affected by cancer an opportunity to explore ways which may help them to cope with their situation. SECHC offer a range of therapies, counselling and support groups free of charge. Being staffed predominantly by trained Volunteers, with professional guidance and support, they need all the fundraising help they can get to keep supporting those who need it.
At Purley Leisure Centre, our Fitness Instructor Simon volunteered to complete an Olympic Triathlon consisting of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run. He completed this in 3 hours and 59 minutes with a breakdown below:
- Swim – 1 hour 10 min
- Bike – 1 hour 27 min
- Run – 1 hour 22 min
We raised £1200.23 so far in sponsors for the event and people are still continuing to contribute on our Just Giving page.
The Just Giving page created for the event is still ongoing so it is not too late should you wish to contribute to this fantastic charity! Please click HERE for more information.
