More significant repair work is required to the 50m and diving pools at the NSC. Due to the scale and complexity of the works, and the nature of dealing with a 60-year-old building, it is necessary to consider how this best fits into a long-term view of appropriate upgrades and wider whole-site phased refurbishment for the centre. This work is ongoing, and a recommendation to further develop the wider refurbishment project will be brought forward in the near future.

The Mayor has recently approved expenditure of up to £550,000 in order to carry out essential maintenance work at the National Sports Centre (NSC) over the next two years, including work to the stadium.

The Mayor remains committed to securing a sustainable future for the NSC, which maintains its role as an important sporting and community facility for London and the South East, and encourages participation in sports and active lifestyles for Londoners.
