Samaggi Samagom's team has organised its first annual sporting event, Samaggi Games, for February 5th, 2022, at the Crystal Palace NSC.

The event's goal was to connect and develop relationships between Thai students from all academic levels and fields of study in the United Kingdom through various sports competitions.

History

"Samaggi Samagom is a not-for-profit association of Thai students in the United Kingdom.

We are Thailand's only student association with royal patronage, having been founded in 1901 by King Rama VI of Thailand. With 6,600 members, we connect and organise events for Thai undergraduate and postgraduate students living and studying in the United Kingdom. We collaborate with over 63 university-level Thai societies throughout the country and serve as a hub for connecting and organising events for Thai students. The Samaggi Summit, the Samaggi Music Festival, the Samaggi Games, and the Samaggi Academic Conference and Careers Fair are all annual events".

The following activities took place throughout the event:

Football

Badminton

Basketball

Chairball

Athletics: Relays

Each society earned points for participating in each competition. The points earned at each event were added together, and the team with the most points was named the overall winner of the Samaggi Games 2022.

It was an honour to host this multi-sport and multi-cultural community event at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. After seeing the crowd on site, every regular visitor to Crystal Palace was relieved to see the centre operating again after an extended period of inactivity.
