Free Outdoor Exercise Classes are Antidote to Lockdown Lethargy
Better has seen huge demand for its outdoor exercise classes since they were launched on Monday 29 March.
Allowed under the Government’s Lockdown Roadmap for England, the leisure provider released a suite of classes on the first day organised activity was permitted.
The offer – free to members and bookable on the Better_uk app – includes aerobics, circuit training, group cycle and yoga. Daily classes in 56 locations across the UK are being offered and the programme will continue through the summer and into late September.
All classes operate under Covid Safe guidelines - including social distancing between participants.
Due to the unique nature of Better’s Leisure Centres, the outdoor classes will take place in a number of unusual and iconic locations – including Crystal Palace National Sports Centre (London), West Reservoir (Hackney) and Mile End Stadium (Tower Hamlets).
Better’s Group Health & Fitness Manager Marco Coppola said:
“On 29 March, Better launched our outdoor fitness class programme across 56 locations – the response from our members has been hugely enthusiastic.
“So much so, will be expanding the programme from 12 April, when indoor leisure returns but exercise classes inside are still embargoed until 17 May.
“Repeated lockdowns have frustrated customers and left them lethargic - so the aim of the programme is to introduce people back into fitness, have fun and feel great.
“Our classes are designed for customers of all abilities and will be operated under strict social distancing and Covid secure protocols to ensure the safety of everyone.”
