The Centre has a large fleet of dinghies, suitable for all ages and abilities. Adult courses lead to Royal Yachting Association proficiency awards.

RYA Level 1 Start Sailing

An introduction to the sport, covering the minimum knowledge required to get afloat under supervision.  Course duration: 2 days.

All courses are run by suitably qualified staff. The Centre is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association, the British Canoeing and the Adventure Activity Licensing Service (licence No. R1032). It is inspected regularly to ensure the highest standards of safety and tuition are maintained.

All courses include the cost of Log Books and awards as appropriate.

RYA Level Two

RYA Level 2 Basic Skills

Becoming a competent sailor in light and moderate winds. Entry requirement: RYA1. Course duration: 2 days.

Those wishing to practice their new-found skills may wish to join the North London Sailing Association (NLSA) membership is open to anyone who holds an RYA Level 2 or Junior Stage 3. Please see the North London Sailing Association information below.

RYA Advance Modules

Our Centre is also able to provide an on demand course for the RYA Advance Modules for those sailors looking to expand their Level 2 abilities. We're able to teach the following modules; Seamanship, Spinnaker, Performance and Start Racing.

North London Sailing Association (NLSA)

The NLSA is an association open to all who want to sail. Sailing times are Sundays 10am till 1pm and during British summer time, Tuesdays 6pm till 8pm. While members can simply enjoy a relaxing sail, they also organise informal training sessions and races in which everyone is encouraged to take part, whatever their level of ability.

Use of the boats is included in the membership fee. The only requirements for membership are that you are at least 8 years old and hold RYA Level 2 or Youth Sailing Stage 3 or equivalent.

Private Tuition

Course dates not suitable? Want a more flexible option to learn? Need specific coaching to improve?

The West Reservoir Centre offers a personalised, closer style of coaching, through private tuitions where instructors can work precisely on what you need. You can share this time between three people. We cater for a host of disciplines or skills including Level 2 direct assesment, Powerboat training, skills coaching or a refresher session.
