International Womens Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on the 8th of March to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.

The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first International Women’s Day gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today International Women’s Day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. It is not country, group or organization specific.

The purpose of this day is to recognise challenges, and focus greater attention on women’s rights.

We are fund raising on the day for the East and North Hertfordshire hospital charity partnership and their Womens Health campaign which will help raise awareness and funds for Womens Health projects to support patients at the Lister, New QEII, Hertford County Hospital and the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

On the day we will be offering a free gym day pass for a friend or family member, and encourage all customers to donate to the cause before using the facilities.

We are also encouraging people to wear an item of clothing that is purple or pink. The universal colour for International women’s day is purple and it symbolises the strength, dignity and justice for women all around the world.

There will be fitness challenges run by our fitness instructors with prizes for the winners including a Better shaker bottle and drawstring bag, along with a variety of exercise classes for everyone to enjoy.

Partcipating in challenge and group exercise are great ways to refresh your training routine and remain motivated to avoid the monotony of usual training plans. ON the day you can get involved with heart pumping cardiovascular workouts such as spin, where our instructors will be cycling to the beat of famous female musicians. Or you can tackle our challenges to crunch your core and build mental and muscular resilience.

On the day we will be all doing our part to celebrate women everywhere and hope that you will join us too.
