Commenting on the event, Ashton Rennie, General Manager for Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub said: “With over 35 million UK residents reported to have watched the Games over the 11 days of competition, we know they have had a huge impact on the nation’s psyche and our attitude to sport. We wanted to capitalise on that enthusiasm and encourage people to move from the sofa to the sports hall and try some of the sports they’ve enjoyed viewing for themselves. Research shows that taking part in team or individual sports offers huge physical and mental health benefits and we hope our Be Inspired open day will be the catalyst for local residents to have a go at something new or different.
We’re delighted to be able to work in partnership with our resident clubs to be able to provide this opportunity for the local community to take part in sport all day, for absolutely free”.
