On Sunday 31st March Kensington Leisure Centre will again host the amazing Swimathon event. Every year, Swimathon brings together swimmers across the nation to challenge their swimming abilities and raise funds for charity.

Two of the swimmers taking part at Kensington Leisure Centre and raising money for charity are Manfred Ruiz and David Badillo. Both became friends 27 years ago when they worked as lifeguards at the leisure centre. On 14th June 2017 Manfred’s niece tragically died in the Grenfell Tower fire and in a heartbreaking coincidence David was one of the firefighters who went into the tower to search for her. They will work as a team to attempt to swim 5km (200 lengths!!) and raise money for The Grenfell Foundation.
