Community Gym

Brixton Recreation Centre's new Community Gym offers a range of facilities including a 40 station gym with cardio and resistant equipment plus a dedicated funtional area and studio. Activities include fitness classes with inclusive, closed-off sessions for juniors, seniors, women, and much more.

Gym Facilities and Equipment

Our Community Gym hosts a range of specialised gym equipment ot support all types of training sessions. This includes state of the art cardio equipment, resistance machines, and functional equipment:

  • Treadmills
  • Crosstrainers
  • Bikes
  • Rowers
  • Chest press
  • Leg press
  • Shoulder press 
  • Cable machines
  • Free weights 

Session Times


Regular exercise improves your fitness and wellbeing, making you less prone to physical and mental health problems. Exercise is also a great way to socialise with friends or meet new people. 


Below are our closed off sessions, helping you to be more comfortable whislt you complete your workout.


Women Only Sessions

Brixton Recreation Centre is provides Women's Only gym sessions to support the This Girl Can campaign and make it easier for more women and girls to exercise.


Although this isn't an instructor led session, our Fitness Instructors on site will be able to support your exercise journey and help you reach your goals.

Junior Gym

Junior gym sessions include access to the Community Gym facilities and classes and are suitable for males and females from the age of 11 to 16 years old. Our expert Fitness Instructors will be in the session to provide support and a personalised exercise program.


Day Time
Weekdays 4-6pm
Weekends 10am-1pm


55 + Sessions

Come along to our specific sessions to support happier, healthier aging every Wednesday from 9am to 1pm. These sessions are for anyone aged 55 or older.


Not only is the gym available for you, but other activities will also be included such as table tennis and chair aerobics. Relevant workshops may also be delivered from time to time. 

Community Groups

The Community Gym is also available for hire by community organisations and schools.
