Swimathon was a big success at Brixton this year. Despite the unexpected pool closure prior to the event the swimmers turned out in force to challenge themselves and raise money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. So far the campaign has raised £1,849,061 with 38,553050 metres swam nationwide.
Overall at Brixton we had 26 people taking part, made up of 23 individuals and 2 teams. Nine individuals took on the furthest distance of swimming the individual 5k and two even took on the triple 5K swimming 15k over the full weekend. Overall the participants at Brixton raised £2291.
We had a range of snacks on offer afterwards to reward the swimmers for their efforts.
A big thank you to all the lane counters, lifeguards and participants that took part. Let’s make Swimathon even bigger and better next year!
