Clapham Common’s Bandstand Beds successfully fundraised over £5,000 to build safe pathways, ensuring that the community garden and kitchen is now accessible to all. GLL’s Community Foundation provided in-kind support throughout the duration of the fundraising period and the final £300 to reach the £5,000 target.
To celebrate the completion of the project, Bandstand Beds Association hosted a Halloween Happening event on Saturday, 28th October. This saw pumpkin carving, biscuit decoration competitions, and finger and leaf painting for the children. A tasty lunch and numerous desserts, cooked from the produce grown in the garden, were provided to the guests and volunteer staff.
Lambeth’s Community Sports Officer, Tom Edwards, was present throughout the event, providing archery instruction to the kids... and many adults. The event attracted over 75 people, who throughly enjoyed their time.
