Ferndale Community Sports Centre hosted a 6-a-side walking football tournament on Sunday 17th October. The tournament organised by local team Lambeth Walkers FC who train at the centre invited AFC Wimbledon and Crystal Palace FC to compete for the Community Centre Trophy.

The friendly but competitive competition was played in good spirit with Crystal Palace FC coming out winners having won all three of their matches. Lambeth Walkers FC fielded two sides North & South with the North side finishing as runners up.

Walking football is played at a walking pace, where players are not allowed to run with the ball or off the ball, and includes jogging, there are many health benefits associated with the game which can also aid mental health.

Lambeth Walkers FC train at Ferndale Community Sports Centre every Friday 19:30 – 20:30 and Sundays from 10:00 – 11:00.
