GLL – the social enterprise behind Better Leisure Centres and Gyms - has been confirmed as one of the best socially-purposed companies in the UK in a national award.

The NatWest SE100 Awards confirmed this week that GLL was one of the UK’s Top 100 not-for-profit companies, measured by its reinvestment in communities, staff engagement in the business, support for other social enterprises in its supply chain and raising social value with customers in local communities.

Better customers already know that every penny profit generated is reinvested into staff training, facilities, member concessions and community sports development.  It’s one of the reasons they have stayed loyal to their local leisure provider in lockdown.

With all facilities closed since the end of March due to COVID-19, Better services have gone online via the Better UK App. Over 250,000 customers have accessed online exercise videos and library storytime and craft sessions in the last eight weeks.

Better Leisure Centres and Gyms are making plans to re-open this summer, observing social distancing and stringent hygiene regimes.

We’ll update customers as soon as we are able.
