Leisure Services Re-Opening In Lambeth: Latest Information

The biggest celebration of grassroots physical activity and sport, the London Sport Awards supported by City of London Corporation, is taking place on Friday 6 March at the prestigious Guildhall in the heart of the Square Mile in London.

Impressively, three organizations who work in partnership with GLL/BETTER with two out of the three also funded through the Lambeth Sports Inclusion Fund have been shortlisted for awards.

MovementWorks who have been nominated for the ‘Children and Young People’ award, offer a progressive programme of Autism Movement Therapy for 7 – 16 year olds. Sessions are delivered every Monday from 4.30pm – 6.30pm at Ferndale Community Sports Centre.

Ebony Horse Club have been nominated for the ‘Sport Unites’ award are a horse riding centre in the heart of Brixton/ The club teach horse care and riding skills as well as taking groups to outdoor events. They also have youth support services to mentor children who need it the most.  The Lambeth Sports Inclusion Fund funded a 12 week programme where participants developed horse care skills, such as, stable management, horse grooming, and leading untacked.

The final group to receive a nomination are ‘Carers 4 Carers’ who have been shortlisted for the ‘Community Impact’ award. They deliver weekly sessions at both Brixton Recreation Centre and Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre and delivered classes as part of the sport demos at the annual Lambeth Country Show at Brockwell Park in 2019.
