This year on Friday 10th December the staff and customers wanted to raise money for Save the Children and join in with Christmas Jumper Day.

This is a fantastic cause, a bit of fun and something different. It was great for the team and customers to participate in this and enjoy it, especially due to the tough times throughout covid that everyone has dealt with. The staff and customers here at Morden Leisure Centre have raised £75 with more donations coming in for those who participated and didn’t donate.

Save the Children operates in 117 countries around the World for children. To make their world a better place, to help them learn, grow and become who they want to be. No matter where they’re growing up, they find a way to reach the children who need them the most.

Volunteers and staff run activities and work with donors to develop programmes abroad which are co-ordinated and delivered by Save the Children International via teams in each country. Encouraging children to learn new skills and grow as individuals and give them the confidence to become important people and to help others.

Molly Greenaway, Lead Swimming Teacher said 'It was great to raise money for Save the Children and the children in the lessons loved our jumpers. Some of the children even had Christmas swimming costumes on to be part of the day as they couldn’t wear jumpers in the pool. This also helped raise extra awareness for an important charity and one that we are part of every year.

The members who visited the centre gave great feedback about how the staff participated in this years Christmas Jumper Day and also that the General Manager James Davis took part to show team inclusivity. The Swim teachers did go the extra mile with Christmas Socks too, so parents of the children attending swimming lessons voted those these were the best Christmas jumper wearers!
