Over the past few months our pre-school children at Sutton Day Nursery have been practicing for their Graduation performance of ‘Mary Lost Her Lamb’ with our very own Drama Teacher, Victoria Swaine. She has performed at Wimbledon Theatre and Epsom Playhouse and has been teaching the children all about stage performance and presence, remembering lines and the use of props.

On the day of their graduation the children put on an outstanding performance to over 80 parents and staff outdoors on the tennis courts, and afterwards they had a quick costume change into their Graduation gowns ready to receive their certificates and gifts from staff.

“Pre-school graduation is always a very special day as we say goodbye to the children leaving us who are preparing to start primary school. We all get a little emotional thinking back on special moments with each child and the huge steps they have taken in their learning journey. We wish them all the best of luck as they start their next adventure.” Says Rosie Williams, Manager at Sutton Day Nursery.

To end the special day, Sutton Day Nursery’s Parent Representative gave a heart-felt speech on behalf of all the parents and children, sharing some lovely memories, some even going back four years from when they first started Nursery at 6 months old. Parents and staff were able to carry on the celebrations in the local park.

One parent said of the graduation, “‘I cannot thank the staff enough for the love and care they have provided for my child. They have taught her so much that she will remember forever”.
