YOUNG@HEART 50+ COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

Are you 50 or over? Want to take some first steps towards being more active, but not sure where or how to start? Our Young@Heart activities in Tower Hamlets are just for you! Not only are these sessions designed to keep you fit and active, we also provide a great opportunity for you to socialise and meet new friends.

Based on local demand, we’re pleased to re-introduce the following activities across our sport and leisure facilities in Tower Hamlets. With sessions costing as little as £3.00 why not drop in and give it a go today!

POPLAR BATHS LEISURE CENTRE

Mondays: Short Tennis - 10am-12pm

Played on a smaller court, with 21” rackets and foam balls, Short Tennis is the perfect activity for our older adult customers. The specifically designed ball and unique rules creates a level playing field whereby different abilities can enjoy playing together.

Mondays: Walking Netball – 12pm-1pm

The slower version of the game we all love; it is netball, but at a walking pace. Women the length of the country have started playing Walking Netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie the social session brings, as much as the health benefits on offer.

Fridays: Aqua Aerobics - 9.30am-10.30am

Get your body moving to the beat whilst giving yourself an energising workout in the water.Our fun and friendly water workout classes give you all the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and provide natural levels of low-impact resistance that’s gentle on the joints.

Gently train your physique and improve core strength in a calming, low-intensity atmosphere. Pilates exercises focus on concentration and muscle control, transitioning smoothly between one another to build a revived and resilient you.

JOHN ORWELL SPORTS CENTRE

Wednesdays: Aerobics Basics - 10.30am -11.30am

Get fit the fun way. You’ll perform a range of cardio moves, taking each at your own pace, all guided by our friendly, motivational instructors.

Thursdays: Young @ Heart Activity Day - 11am - 2pm

Aerobics Basics - 11am - 12pm. Build confidence and the foundations to get moving.

Tea and refreshments - 12pm - 1pm. Socialise and relax after your class with a cuppa and good company.

Walking Netball (starting 16th June) - 1pm - 2pm. Jump in the sports hall for an absolute sporting favourite! 

Gym Access - 11am - 2pm. Make use of our spacious, fully equipped and air-conditioned gym.
