Lacie, aged 9, signed up to complete the Swimathon for the Marie Curie charity back in march 2020. This was unfortunately put on hold due to the lockdown leaving her upset and very disappointed that she was unable to complete it.

When Lacie received the news that the leisure centres were opening again, she wasted no time and began training for the Swimathon. She returned to her swimming lessons at East Manchester Leisure Centre on a Tuesday evening in the Academy class and worked hard to regain her fitness. She excitedly asked about completing her Swimathon with us - her mum contacted Swimathon organisers and they said to contact the centre which she did and along with her teacher Natalie we arranged for her to complete the Swimathon on Sunday 25th October.

Lacie completed 2.5km, which is 100 lengths of our 25m swimming pool in 1 hour and 15 minutes and had raised money for the Marie Currie charity.

All the staff at the centre were really impressed with her and we think she could give some of our staff a run for their money!!

If you would like to join our swimming lessons and take part in the next Swimathon please contact Andrew.Bell@all.org
