Following a review of facilities, programmes and recent customer feedback, staff and management at Better, Gosforth Leisure Centre have been implementing several new changes, to make your experience at the centre even better.

The refurbishment of the sauna and steam area is now finished and customers have been enjoying their fresh, new surroundings in the eucalyptus infused steam room and relaxing sauna and rest area.

Redecoration in the gym is now complete and additional new kit has been installed, incuding 2 Watt Bikes, which are great for fitness training and improving your riding style, plus a new squat rack.  New weights will also be arriving within the next few weeks.

Fitness classes and programmes at the centre are also set for some improvements and new equipment.  To vary your water workout we now have 'Aqua Mitts' available and are looking at other products to offer more choices for your swimming fitness.

In June, the centre will be launching family friendly circuits and group cycling fitness classes.  Better wants to get more people to be more active, more often and these classes are aimed to encourage 11-17 year olds to get into, or continue with exercies as they get older.  The classes will be led by an instructor and are a great way for families to keep fit together.

Further improvements for families and youngsters include additional Better, Swim School lessons on Sundays and extra family fun sessions, which will run at the same time as lane swimming, so you can work on your fitness while the kids let off some steam.

If your looking for your child's next birthday party venue, then our new pool party packages, with use of both pools, floats and toys and an hour in the party room afterwards are sure to be a hit.

Gosforth General Manager Craig Howell said "We're always looking for ways to improve the centre for customers and the local community.  Our membership and usage has grown since the improvements have been made and positive customer feedback since the changes has grown via our indipendent monitoring system.  The staff and I are really pleased with the changes to date and are looking forward to more improvements this summer."

The next stage will see a revamp of the studio space to make it a cleaner, brighter environment to work out in.
