What's happening at Walker Activity Dome?

Current Community Activities 

  • Vaccine bus at Walker every Tuesday which will run up tpo and including Tuesday 21st December 2pm-5pm. We are working with Newcastle City Council to ensure everyone in Walker has the opportunity to get their vaccine against Coronavirus! 
  • Walker Library have expanded their opening hours - The library is now open 2pm-6pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as well as 10am-2pm on a Saturday. The library has 2 computers available with printing facilities as well as a book selection with something for everyone. 
  • Newcastle Kicks - Every Thursday 6pm-8pm, NUFC Kicks run a completely FREE session for local children aged 8-17 on our outdoor astroturf pitches. This session is funded by the Premier Leage and is due to continue every Thursday into 2022. 
  • NEW FREE FOOTBALL FOR U18s every Wednesday and Friday (starting January) - Between 3pm-4.30pm on the days above we will open 2 5 A SIDE pitches for free use by local school children. The session is designed to provide a safe environment for young people to play football! 

We would like to assure the local community that we are working closely with a lot of local groups in order to increase the community activities. As soon as we can confirm anything we will publish the information on our website and social media channels. 

Christmas Activities for Young People

This Christmas we have again teamed up with Newcastle City Council to help provide some fun activities which will also be free. The sessions at Walker Activity Dome will include the following: 

  • Monday 20th December - Football fun with Andrew Cartwright FC 11am-3pm.Food will be included free of charge for anyone involved. There will be 30 spaces for this and the bookings will open next week (WC 6th December)
  • Tuesday 21st December - NUFC Kicks will be running a free football camp on the outside astroturf pitches 11am-3pm and food will also be provided with this. 
  • Tuesday 21st December - We have teamed up with Blowin a Hooley Theatre who will be performing their own version of Cinderella at 6pm. This event will be ticket only and tickets are all FREE. Tickets will be on sale soon.

Christmas Opening Hours 

  • Monday 20th December 2pm-9pm
  • Tuesday 21st December 2pm-9pm 
  • Wednesday 22nd December CLOSED
  • Thursday 23rd December 2pm-9pm
  • Friday 24th December - Monday 3rd January CLOSED

We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 4th January 2022. 

YOU SAID, WE DID 

  • You asked us to improve the journey into our centre so we have now opened the second car park on the care home side of the building and added a new entrance. Anyone visiting the centre can now use both car parks! 
  • You asked us to open on weekends to allow for additional racquet sports - we are now open 08:30-3 on Saturdays and 08:30-1 on Sundays! 
  • You asked us to increase the temperature at our library area - we have now fixed the boiler issue and the library is toasty warm! The squash court heating will also be fixed ASAP to increase the temperatre for peak ball performance!
