On the 16th & 17th November 2 members of our team, Chris and Shaun, took part in a 24hr bike to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Trust.

The challenge got going at 9am on Friday, and started with a Sufferfest class, which we secured special usage of for the 24hr period. In hindsight the guys may have put a bit too much effort into this class, as the following 4hours were really a struggle.

With some time to recover, they realised they would need to pace themselves, which was fine until the 2nd class came around. Once again their competitive instinct took over as they tried to compete with the rest of the class, however the duo soldiered on.

Then the graveyard shift started, the part the team had been dreading from the start of the day. Despite legs starting to cramp and saddles becoming increasingly uncomfortable, the hours flew by, with incredible support from all the members, into the final straight.

Finish line in site, with only 1 class remaining and possibly the longest hour of their lives, the guys battled on to cover the wide of the England (Ness Point to Lands End). But alas, when the timer stopped they ultimately ended up slightly short, missing the distance by just 22km.

During the 24hour period, support was phenomenal. With up to 3 members coming every 30mins throughout the night to offer their support. The guys managed to cover a distance of 634km between the bikes, and managed to raise £481.65 for charity.

“Thank you to everyone who supported or took part in the challenge throughout the day, it is greatly appreciated and could not have been done without you! Especially all the food J!” - Shaun Fisher
