From the 8th March, Better Gym Sleaford will be running a weekly social drop in football match.

These football sessions will be aimed at men that would like to lose a little weight, gain some fitness and just blow off some steam after a hard day at work!

Players of all abilities are welcome, so you don’t need to be a seasoned pro to come down and get involved!

Initially while interest gathers, men can just book themselves in online, turn up and teams will be decided on the night. Then once the final whistle blows, it’s on to the weigh in!

We can record your weight which, if desired, will allow you to keep track of your progress over the weeks/months ahead. Guys can then sit down and have a social about the games events, share their stories or even chat about the weekend’s football results all while enjoying a  free coffee!

Our aim is to get men moving, help combat obesity and also improve overall mental well being. Studies have shown that becoming involved with consistent group exercise just once a week can reduce stress levels by around 26%. We know that some of us can find it hard to stick to certain exercise routines and diets especially if we find the activity difficult to enjoy.  So we believe that just by getting men out there on the pitch and playing the game they love with others will be a fantastic way for us to achieve this aim and help men achieve those goals however big or small.

Our long term plan is to eventually create a league in which men can compete and spur each other on to help push them further towards their weight loss goals.  To make it even more competitive, we plan on awarding extra points for achievements such as, man of the match, most weight lost and also consistent weight loss over a given period of weeks.
