Sleaford LC to go plastic free

Here at Better we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact, at Sleaford Leisure Centre we’ve already taken steps to reduce our carbon emissions. Our pool is heated by the energy produced from the local straw burning power plant – a source of renewable energy. Further to this we’ve implemented steps to ensure we reduce our paper waste, our pool timetable is available to view and take photos of in centre with a copy available to view online as well. All of our staff work towards keeping our energy levels down by switching off lights when necessary and turning off machines in the gym during quiet periods.

We’ve recently decided our next step in reducing our impact on the environment is to try and go plastic free. To do this we will be stopping the use of plastic overshoes in our changing village.

The plastic overshoes are not recyclable and are a source of landfill waste. We’re asking all of our customers to support us in our bid to go plastic free by removing their shoes when entering the changing village.

Alternatively we will soon have flip flops available to purchase at reception which can be used each time you visit the centre! Keep an eye out on our Facebook page to keep up to date with our aim to eventually be plastic free!
