Wheelchair Skills Workshop

A wheelchair skills workshop, led by Go Kids Go, was hosted at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre on the 1st May. The session was organised in co-ordination with Warwickshire Council with children from South Warwickshire welcome. The children were taught the important skills involved with their wheelchairs, including general control, balancing on the back wheels - which are essential for moving up and down kerbs - road safety tips, and emergency evacuation procedures. Sports Day

On the 6th May, we hosted the 34th Rugby sports day for the disabled. The event which ran from 10:00-18:00 welcomed over 120 participants from across the midlands, with inclusive sports clubs coming from Leamington, Coventry, and Nuneaton.

Many sports were played throughout the day including boccia, table tennis, new age kurling, darts, and a swimming gala. There were many other additional ‘have a go’ events to try including alley skittles, mini-crossbow, wedge bowls, and bowling for the pig.

The Rotary Club of Rugby organised the event along with two other rotary clubs (Dunsmore and Rugby Breakfast), as well as Rugby Sport for the Disabled Association who hold sport sessions every Saturday morning at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre. https://www.rugbysda.org.uk/
